About Deep Roots School

Our Vision

Deep Roots School is built upon a vision that seeks to bring a unique learn-by-doing educational experience to our youth through the practices and teachings of agricultural and outdoor skills.

Our Students

Deep Roots offers school programs for children ages 3 - 6. We operate under a one-room-school house model, holding opportunities for children of different ages to grow mentorship and meaningful relationships.

Our Program and School Site

Deep Roots works to create a program where kids learn through practices of meaningful work with their boots on the ground and hands in the soil. We plant seeds of education through ways of farming, nature exploring, and real life problem solving.

School is run from our home property and operated out of our transformed classroom yurt and open land.

Our team

Teacher Sam

I'm Sam, founder and educator of Deep Roots School. I've been teaching in outdoor, alternative, and agriculture based education for many years. I began my teaching career apprenticing under a Waldorf teacher, while educating a small one room school of students ages 5 - 12 on an all organic produce farm. After years on the farm, Aaden and I bought our home, settled in, and began the growing of Deep Roots.

Teacher Ladahlia

Meet Ladahlia! Ladahlia is our co-lead teacher here at Deep Roots School! Ladahlia is an adventurous, hard working, fun loving gal! When not working or studying to pursue her early education decree at FVCC, you’ll catch her outside either paddle boarding or camping. In the winter, you will be sure to find Ladahlia snowboarding up at Big Mountain any chance she gets! Her favorite thing about teaching is watching the kids faces light up when they develop or find new skills.

Meet the Founders

We're Aaden and Sam, founders of Deep Roots School. From beginning our relationship as counselors at a summer camp, to getting married and opening up our home to grow a school, education and growing the curiosity of children has become a lifelong adventure for the two of us.
