About Deep Roots School

Our Vision

Deep Roots School is built upon a vision that seeks to bring a unique learn-by-doing educational experience to our youth through the practices and teachings of agricultural and outdoor skills.

Our Students

Here at Deep Roots we offer a Preschool aged program for children ages 3 - 6. The school is operated upon a one-room-school house model, holding opportunities for children of different ages to grow mentorship and meaningful relationships.

Our Program and School Site

As a school of agricultural and outdoor learning, we work to create a program where kids are able to learn through the practice of meaningful work with their boots on the ground and hands in the soil. We continually strive to plant seeds of education through ways of farming, nature exploring, and real life problem solving.

Deep Roots School is run from our home and operated out of our yurt and backyard land. With 2 acres of space, we decided to grow our own food, which led to the birth of bringing this beauty and act of meaningful work to our youth. With our chickens and cattle dog JJ along for the journey, the sprouting of Deep Roots School began.

Our team

Teacher Sam

I am Sam, the founder and educator of Deep Roots School. I have been teaching in outdoor, alternative, and agriculture based education for over five years. I began my teaching career apprenticing under a Waldorf teacher, while educating a small school of students ages 5 - 12 on an all organic produce farm. After years on the farm, I moved to Columbia Falls and began teaching Forest Kindergarten. When then bought our home, and the vision to grow our own school began.

Teacher Audrey

This is Audrey! Audrey has a degree and teaching background in Elementary Education. After teaching in the public school systems, her heart was driven to seek a way in which she could use her knowledge of education towards teaching kids to love learning through the outdoors and nature.

Meet the Founders

We are Aaden and Sam, the founders of Deep Roots School. From beginning our relationship by meeting as counselors at a summer camp, to getting married and opening up our home to grow a school, education and growing the curiosity of children has become a lifelong adventure for the two of us.
